EPILOGUE..

The most elegant interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, can be read in Dr. Wayne Dyer’s “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.” In two of my favorite versus he suggests in the 8th verse “Living in the Flow” and the 43rd verse “Living Softly,” to live as water. The Tao says “the softest of all things override the hardest of all things.” Dr. Dyer notes that hardness is not strength. He describes patiently, quietly, effortlessly and gently, water will carve deeply even the hardest of marble and granite stone though the hardest of stone will not change water. All one has to do is look at places like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Yosemite Valley of California, and Colca Canyon in southern Peru, or even a local stream and waterfall to see how water gently effects nature in very big ways and without even trying.

Water nourishes all things without trying. In Dr. Dyer’s interpretation, he says, water “can’t be held or squeezed but only experienced through relaxed hands, if allowed to flow will stay pure, never seeking a high spot above it all.”

While essential to maintain life on earth, water tries to do nothing. It is written in the Tao to perform without action. Water has no intention or plan to do any of the things it is used for in life. Water treats everyone equally and does all this by effortlessly being in the flow of nature. It simply is.

As is true for all matter and non-matter, water is a perpetual form of energy. Water as an eternal form of energy is easily understood as liquid, ice or steam, evaporating to form clouds then transforming once again into a liquid, raining back down on earth where it will freely flow in this continuous cycle. Dyer appears to interpret in the 8th verse of the Tao, that living as water refers to moving in harmony with the present moment.

Know the truth of just what to do and where to be in each moment. Treat everyone equally. Be timely in choosing the right moment for every appropriate action.

My perspective for living as water is to naturally flow from within your unique connection to The Energy That Is Everything (God as you know her). Take right actions without trying, knowing they arise from the place of your origin. In other words, move smoothly within the flow of nature without effort. Whether a surge of thoughts and ideas, physical movements or actions, let them be effortlessly guided by your true nature in the same way water creatively, joyfully and freely flows, being productive and nourishing to life, all without trying.

Living in this way, thoughts and actions pass effortlessly what may have previously been considered obstacles and barriers. When flowing from within one’s connection to Divine Source, there is no resistance.

AS WATER IS IN LIFE,

DIVINE ENERGY AM I,

POURED FORTH INTO NATURE.
